KTR lashes out at ECI for transferring RO, reinstating road roller symbol

Hyderabad, Oct.20 (NSS): Telangana working president KT Rama Rao lashed out at the Election Commission of India (ECI) for transferring the Returning Officer of Munugodu, saying that it is yet another example that how the BJP government at the Centre is misusing the constitutional institutions in the country.

In a statement here on Thursday, KTR said that the transfer of Returning Officer was a clear evident that the BJP was pressurising the Election Commission of India (ECI) which is to be worked without any bias upholding the spirit of democracy.

“We strongly condemn the decision taken by the Election Commission on transfer of the Returning Officer who worked as per the rules. The decision indicates that the ECI is working under the pressure of union government,” KTR said.

He also found fault with the ECI for reinstating the road roller symbol, which was suspended in 2011, saying that it is nothing but doing a mockery of the spirit of democracy.

“When the TRS party lodged a complaint with officials in the past, the EC had removed the road roller symbol from the list of free symbols. But the same symbol has been reinstated ahead of the ongoing Munugodu bypolls which is against the spirit of the election,” KTR pointed out.

The TRS working president has accused the union government of making cheap attempts to gain political mileage in the by-election by confusing the voters with symbols that resemble the TRS’ car symbol. (NSS)
