KTR launches Disaster Rescue Force
Hyderabad, Aug.4 (Maxim News): Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao today said under the Safe City Initiative four lakh surveillance cameras have been installed in different areas of the city. In all, some 10 lakh surveillance cameras have to be installed across the city. All the residents associations and Police department are extending all support in taking up the works, he said.
Launching the GHMC Enforcement Vigilance Disaster Management’s Disaster Response Force wing with 120 staff and vehicles, the Minister said Hyderabad happens to be first city in the country to have dedicated disaster response force. It is also second city to have an exclusive EVDM wing, he said. The seeds for setting up the EVDM wing were laid after eight workers lost their lives in the under construction building collapse incident at Nanakramguda, the Minister said.
There is a need to increase the disaster response force strength and set up more exclusive teams in different zones for taking up rescue and relief operations immediately during emergency cases, the Minister said. After the Disaster Response Force, GHMC will be setting up an exclusive Enforcement wing with 250 to 300 staff.
The Minister announced that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has approved the plan to set up more zones in GHMC for decentralizing the administration and extending quality service to citizens. “The initiative will be taken up after due deliberations with elected public representatives” said Rao.
DR.B. Rammohan, H.W. Mayor, Anjani Kumar IPS, Commissioner of Police Hyderabad has also addressed the gathering and explained overall development of the city development and Law & Order situation.
Chinthala Ramchandra Reddy, MLA, Chiranjeevulu, Commissioner, HMDA, NVS Reddy, MD, HMR, Zonal Commissioners Bharati Holikeri, CN Raghu Prasad, Area Corporator, Public Representatives and senior officials of various Heads of Govt., Departments have participated in the program. (Maxim News)
