Hyderabad: KTR legal notices were issued on Saturday after BRS Working President K Tarak Rama Rao moved against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind. He served separate legal notices to both BJP leaders over what he described as defamatory remarks made against him and his family. The notices relate to public statements that allegedly targeted Rao without evidence.

K Tarak Rama Rao sought an unconditional apology from both leaders within five days. He made it clear that failure to comply would force him to initiate legal proceedings. “Making such statements without any evidence was purely malicious and amounted to cheap politics,” he said. The Sircilla MLA stressed that he would pursue legal remedies if the demands in the notice were ignored.

Meanwhile, in the notice issued to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, KTR’s lawyers referred to remarks made during a press conference on January 23. According to the notice, the Union Minister alleged that the former Telangana minister’s family had amassed thousands of crores through phone tapping. He also claimed that phones of celebrities were tapped. KTR’s lawyers stated that these allegations were completely false and defamatory. They also objected to Bandi Sanjay repeating similar claims even though a defamation case against him was already pending before the City Civil Court.

In a separate notice sent to Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind, KTR’s lawyers objected to remarks alleging drug abuse and drug supply. They said such statements crossed limits and harmed Rao’s reputation. “Rama Rao, a former minister who worked for the development of the State, particularly the expansion of the IT sector, was being targeted with reckless and baseless allegations without any evidence, which amounted to political vendetta,” the lawyers said.

However, KTR maintained that the notices were issued to protect his dignity and that of his family. He reiterated that public figures must speak responsibly. He also underlined that allegations made without proof damage democratic discourse. Later, he said the law would take its course if apologies were not issued within the stipulated time.
