Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News): BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the demolition of houses in areas affected by Full Tank Level (FTL) and Musi-related projects.
KTR alleged that the government was targeting poor residents while not taking similar action against houses belonging to Congress leaders in FTL areas. His remarks were made while speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan.
KTR Questions Demolitions of Poor Residents’ Houses
KTR said he had visited areas from Haider Shah Kot towards Bapughat and claimed that residents were worried about the demolition of their houses.
He said many residents had registered their properties, paid for them and were still paying EMIs. KTR questioned where such families would go if their houses were demolished.
Referring to the Musi project, KTR asked whether the river could be developed without demolishing residential properties. He claimed the previous BRS government had prepared plans for Musi rejuvenation and had undertaken work with a proposed investment of ₹16,000 crore.
KTR also highlighted welfare measures implemented during the previous BRS government. He said former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had issued pattas to around two lakh poor people under JVOs 58 and 59 in Hyderabad and constructed one lakh double-bedroom houses.
He alleged that the present government had not built a single new house in Hyderabad while demolishing existing homes. KTR also criticised the government’s proposed Future City project, questioning its priorities while raising concerns about conditions in the existing city.
KTR further alleged that Revanth Reddy was unwilling to take action against houses belonging to Congress members in FTL areas but was demolishing homes of poor residents.
The Telangana government has maintained that action against properties falling within prohibited or encroached areas would be taken according to legal procedures. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy recently said officials were surveying lands around former Chief Minister KCR’s Erravelli farmhouse and that government land found under private occupation would be reclaimed through due process.
KTR’s latest remarks are part of the continuing political dispute between the BRS and Congress governments over land, FTL areas, demolitions and the Musi rejuvenation project.
