Kurnool bus accident | Hyderabad, Oct 24: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic bus accident that occurred in Kurnool district.
Speaking about the incident, he described it as “unfortunate and deeply saddening,” and extended his condolences to the families of the victims.
The minister stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already gathered a full report on the accident and directed immediate coordination between states to manage the aftermath.
The minister said that the Telangana government has instructed the state transport department to take prompt measures wherever necessary.

Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed that he personally spoke over the phone with the Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister, the Kurnool District Collector, and the Superintendent of Police to understand the details of the incident and ensure support for the victims.
He pointed out that thousands of passengers travel daily between Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, and therefore, stronger preventive measures were needed to avoid similar tragedies.
“We will take all necessary steps to ensure that such accidents do not occur in the future,” he said. Ponnam announced that a joint meeting of transport ministers and commissioners from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana will soon be held to discuss safety protocols and enforcement mechanisms.
Plans for inter-state meeting to prevent future bus tragedies
The minister emphasized that implementing and strictly adhering to speed limits can help reduce road accidents. He remarked that while daily checks on private buses sometimes draw complaints about harassment, road safety cannot be compromised.
Referring to the ill-fated bus, he said it was registered in Odisha but used to operate between Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Ponnam Prabhakar expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and requested the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. He reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to cooperate closely with neighbouring states in enhancing inter-state road transport safety.
