Learn more languages: Prof. Ishtiaq Ahmed Advise to the Students

Hyderabad: Learn more languages other than mother tongue, Prof. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Registrar, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) advised students yesterday during a programme organized by the Department of Education and Training on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. Prof. M. Vanaja, Dean, School of Education & Training presided over.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed while mentioning the efforts and achievements of the university in the implementation of Hindi as official language recalled the recent visit of the parliamentary committee and said that MANUU is carrying out administrative work in Hindi language also.

Prof. M. Vanaja highlighted the importance of mother tongue while referring to the National Education Policy 2020. In digital age the process of learning other languages has become easier and students should use these facilities, she said.

The guest speakers – Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Dean, School of Mass Communication & Journalism and Prof. Karan Singh Utwal, Department of Hindi spoke on the topic “The future of Hindi in the digital age”. Hindi is growing rapidly as the most spoken language. In this advanced era, the bright future of students lies in learning more than one languages, said Prof. Mohammad Fariyad. Prof. Karan Singh Utwal opined that if languages are not digitized in the digital age, there is a fear that they may become extinct.

Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, OSD-II and Dr. Shagufta Parveen, Hindi Officer congratulated all the teachers and students on Hindi Day.

Earlier, Prof. Shaheen Altaf Shaikh, Head, Department of Education and Training briefed about the program. Dr. Ashwani, Associate Professor, Department of Education and Training who was also the Program Coordinator delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Praveen Kumar  proposed vote of thanks and Mr. Jahangeer Alam  convened the programme.

A book “Samaveshi Shiksha ke Vividh Aayam” written by Dr. Ashwani was also released. Certificates were distributed to first three winners of essay writing competition held in connection with Hindi Diwas.

The management committee members – Dr. V S Sumi, Dr. Firdaus Tabassum, Dr. Jarrar Ahmed, Dr. Rubeena, Dr. Shaikh Ehteshamuddin were also present.
