Hyderabad: Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm on Tuesday shortly after the start of the day’s session amid noisy protests by Opposition members over the NEET paper leak and the alleged police action against students.
Opposition MPs from the Congress and several other parties demanded an immediate discussion on the alleged assault on students during protests over the examination controversy. Raising slogans, they also sought apologies from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, holding the government responsible for the police action.
Anti-Paper Leak Bill to Be Taken Up Later Today
As the protests intensified and Opposition members entered the Well of the House, the Speaker and the Chairman adjourned the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha until 2 pm, citing the inability to conduct normal proceedings.
After the House reconvenes, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, widely referred to as the Anti-Paper Leak Bill, is expected to be taken up for detailed discussion in the Lok Sabha. The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen legal provisions against examination paper leaks and related malpractices.
