New Delhi, July 16: The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued a fresh set of guidelines for Members of Parliament (MPs) ahead of the Monsoon Session scheduled from July 20 to August 17. The new directions focus on strengthening Parliament security, protecting members’ privacy, and maintaining decorum inside the House.
The Secretariat has introduced stricter rules on the use of electronic devices and activities within the Parliament complex to prevent unauthorized recording and ensure compliance with digital security standards.
Under the new guidelines, MPs will not be allowed to carry surveillance enabled electronic devices such as smartwatches, smart glasses, and pen cameras inside the House.
The Secretariat said the restrictions are aimed at preventing unauthorized photography and video recording and safeguarding the privacy of parliamentary proceedings.
The bulletin also reiterates strict rules to preserve the dignity of Parliament. It prohibits dharnas, political protests, and the display of placards within the Parliament premises.
In addition, carrying weapons into the Parliament complex remains strictly prohibited. The guidelines also state that no religious programmes or pujas should be conducted within the Parliament premises.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat has urged all MPs to follow the new directions and cooperate in maintaining the security, order, and decorum of the House during the Monsoon Session.
