Delhi/Hyderabad, May 9 (Maxim News): Former Army Chief Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani has been appointed as the next Chief of Defence Staff. The tenure of the three-services chief General Anil Chauhan will end on May 30. Subramani will take over the charge in his place. NS Raja Subramani will also hold the charge of Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. Lieutenant General Subramani is currently serving as Military Advisor in the National Security Council Secretariat. He was made the Vice Chief of Army Staff from July 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025. Subramani served in the Indian Army for 39 years. He also served as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief in the Central Command. He is a recipient of the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.
He was commissioned into the 8th Battalion of the Garhwal Rifles on 14 December 1985. He has since served in many wars. He has served in the Army for four decades in various capacities. He played a key role in Operation Rhino in Assam. He was made the commander of 16 Garhwal Rifles. He was made the commander of 168 Infantry Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir. He was made the commander of the 17th Mountain Division in the Central Sector. He was made the commander of two key corps forces of the Army on the Western Front.(Maxim News)
