Mahmood Ali Directs Police To Clamp Down On Liquor Smuggling

Hyderabad, May 19 (Maxim News): Minister for Home affairs has directed the police to clamp down on smuggling of liquor and spurious seeds in the state.

Home Minister along with DGP Anjani Kumar, and other senior officials held a video conference with IGs, CPs and SPs on the steps to be taken to curb smuggling of liquor and spurious seeds. Officials of the Excise and Agriculture department also participated in the conference.

Speaking on this occasion, Minister Mahmood Ali gave several important instructions on the steps to be taken to stop the smuggling of fake seeds and liquor. The police said to remain calm. Those who are smuggling liquor have been identified and ordered to take strict action.

He also recalled saying that the Cabinet has decided to take strict action in the case of spurious seeds so that not a single farmer in the state suffers. For this purpose, the cabinet discussed the matter by making the DGP a special partner in the meeting. It has issued orders that the perpetrators of adulteration should not be neglected and arrested under the PD Act. The Cabinet suggested that Collectors, Agriculture Department officials, Vigilance officials and police should form teams and carry out periodic inspections. The Chief Secretary and DGP ordered a review and monitored the situation from time to time. A sub-committee will work on this issue as well. (Maxim News)
