Mamata Banerjee to meet PM Modi on July 28
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 July. According to the reports, CM Mamata Banerjee will be visiting New Delhi for two or three days this month. It is said that she may also meet President Ram Nath Kovind and the details regarding the meeting have not yet been announced.
During the press conference, Mamata Banerjee said that she will go for two to three days and meet PM Modi. It is the first meet of Mamata Banerjee with PM Modi after she came to the power in West Bengal. Earlier, she skipped PM Meeting to review the damage of Cyclone Yaas.
Banerjee’s visit to New Delhi assumes significance as it will be during the Monsoon Session of Parliament and also her first interaction with the Prime Minister after the TMC’s astounding victory in the West Bengal Assembly polls.
The TMC chief, who has been at loggerheads with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre since campaigning for the West Bengal Assembly polls, had earlier in May this year skipped the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi to review the damage from Cyclone Yaas.
Banerjee’s schedule has, however, not yet been confirmed but reports suggest she will be visiting the national capital in the last week of July.
The TMC chief, who has been highly critical of the Centre on the Pegasus snoopgate row, had, however, during her speech at the Martyr’s Day event, said that she would be in Delhi on July 27, 28 and 29 during which she would like to want to meet as many opposition leaders as possible.
“You call a meeting of opposition leaders on 27th, 28th or 29th. At least we can sit together. We don’t have time to waste. Only around 2.5-3 years are left,” PTI quoted Banerjee as saying.
