Vemulawada, Sept. 22: A man was handed over to police after allegedly trying to steal a garland made of currency notes from a Ganesha idol in Vemulawada.
The incident occurred near the Ganesha statue at Baddipochamma Street in Rajanna Sircilla district.
Members of GVC Youth had decorated the idol with a currency garland worth Rs 50,000. The garland was made using Rs 500 notes.
According to the organisers, the man arrived at the location early Tuesday morning and allegedly tried to remove the garland from the idol.
Youth Catch Suspect After Ganesha Garland Theft Attempt
GVC Youth members noticed the alleged attempt and immediately chased the man.
They reportedly caught him after pursuing him for some distance.
The youth then handed the suspect over to the police. The currency garland was also recovered.
Police took the man into custody and began an investigation into the incident.
