Man Arrested For Smuggling ‘Desi Daru’ From Maharashtra To Telangana
Komaram Bheem Asifabad/Hyderabad, Feb 6 (Maxim News): A man was arrested for allegedly smuggling illicitly distilled liquor from Maharashtra to Telangana, at Venkatraopet village on Thursday. Police seized 240 bottles containing 180 ml of liquor each and a two wheeler from his possession. The value of the alcohol was assessed to be Rs. 13,500.
Sirpur (T) sub-Inspector Kamalakar said that the accused Chand from Chandrapur district was apprehended while he was illegally transporting the liquor by a motorcycle at an inter-state check post at Venkatraopet village.
On being interrogated, Chand confessed to liquor smuggling for making easy money for the past few months. He revealed that people from border areas of Telangana would prefer desi daru (country liquor) over Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) considering the reasonable price for the drink. (Maxim News)
