Khammam/Hyderabad, April 1 (Maxim News): A man met a watery grave while trying to save his father from drowning in a tank at Alapadu village of Bonakal mandal of Khammam district on Monday. The father also drowned in the tragic incident.
A resident of the village, Pathan Yousuf Khan (65), who was searching for one of his missing buffaloes spotted it in the Oora Cheruvu tank and stepped into the water to rescue the buffalo. However, he did notice the pits caused by digging of the tank bed to shift soil to the farm fields in the past and slipped and fell.
Noticing this, his son Pathan karimullah Khan (45) rushed into the water to save his father and he too drowned along with his father. The tragedy occurred in the late afternoon hours. Both the elderly man and his son could not swim, according to the villagers.
The pall of gloom descended on Alapadu village as the duo who celebrated the festival of Ramzan with family members and relatives earlier in the day lost their lives. (Maxim News)
