Man Who Vandalized Durga Idol At Nampally Arrested

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (Maxim News): The Begum Bazaar police solved the case of goddess Durga idol vandalism reported at a pandal in Exhibition Ground in Nampally and arrested one Krishnaiah Goud of Nagarkurnool district in connection with the case on Friday night.

Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav in a late-night press conference said Krishnaiah Goud’s mental condition was not stable and he confessed that he was hungry and came to the venue in search of food.

However, as he could not find any food even at the pandal, he got angry and vandalized the idol and damaged the pandal,” the DCP said.

Six special teams were formed and Goud was caught while moving suspiciously.

The Begum Bazaar police booked cases on Goud and also the pandal organizers for not following proper procedure.

“As per rules, someone needs to be available at the pandal round the clock.  but it didn’t happen.  there were no volunteers at the time of the incident.” the DCP added. 

He warned citizens not to give a communal colour to the incident on social media which could lead to law and order issues.  (Maxim News)
