Mayor Vijayalaxmi Instructs GHMC Officials To See That People Don’t Face Any Problem
Hyderabad, Sept 2 (Maxim News): Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that the entire GHMC administration is monitoring the entire field level in coordination with all the departments so that the people do not face any problems due to the rains that have been falling in the city for the last three days.

The Mayor made a surprise visit to the control room of the GHMC headquarters on Monday and inquired with OSD Anuradha about the rainfall in the city so far, areas with the highest rainfall, complaints received, resolved, water levels of Hussain Sagar, Himayat Sagar, Osman Sagar.
On this occasion, the Mayor said that only moderate rains had fallen in Hyderabad city, and in the wake of the red alert announced by the Meteorological Department, all levels of officials, starting from the GHMC Commissioner, have visited the field and taken necessary measures so that the people do not face any problems.

Statistics emergency teams and DRF teams are working jointly. It is mentioned that 242 emergency teams, 157 mobile teams, and 30 DRFG teams are working in 141 locations. She said that the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate has 7 emergency teams, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates have four additional emergency teams each. A team of 12 people in the GHMC control room and a team of 10 people in the DRF control room are working 24/7 hours.
She said that the highest rainfall in the district was 9 centimeters and trees fell due to water stagnation due to rain and they were removed from time to time. Similarly, a wide campaign has been made to call the control room for the help needed by the people. She said that all the officers were in the area and alerting the people from time to time. It was explained that the affiliated departments of GHMC are working without loss of life anywhere. People in flooded areas are being alerted. After checking in the control room, there is a light to moderate rain forecast in the city today.

However, alerting the public, the entire GHMC administration is on alert. The GHMC control room has received 141 complaints regarding water stagnation till today morning 140 have been cleared and another is being processed, she said. Similarly, it was explained that 140 complaints have been received regarding incidents of trees falling 137 have been removed and three more are being removed.
She said that 596 dilapidated buildings have been identified, action has been taken on 344, buildings 129 have been evacuated, four have been sealed and 107 water tanks have been repaired with the respective owners.

The Mayor said that rehabilitation centers have been set up and despite the absence of heavy rains in Hyderabad, all precautionary measures have been taken. She asked people not to walk on the road alone in the rain with small children and old people and to call the GHMC control room for necessary help. She said that health camps are being set up as people are likely to fall ill with viral fevers and other diseases after the rains. She appealed to everyone to be vigilant till the rains subsided completely.
