MCT To Conduct Covid Tests To All The Senior Citizens In City

Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has decided to conduct covid-19 tests to all the above 60 years senior citizens who are living in the city at various residential localities. It may be noted that covid-19 cases tally touched around 150 mark in the city, due to in this alarming situation municipal commissioner PS Girisha appealed to city residents that to continue self restrictions for avoiding coronavirus spread as well as senior citizens should use the covid -19 testing facility at free of cost. According to Municipal Statistics around 60,000 senior citizens are living.

In continuation of coronavirus spread preventive measures Commissioner issued an order to conduct regular covid-19 tests to above 60 years old persons across the city. For this MCT set up testing centres in its urban primary health centres like Auto Nagar, Krishnapurama Tana, Yerramitta, Nehru Nagar, Prakasam Road, Sivajyothi Nagar, Scavengers Colony, Biragipatteda, P&T colony.

MCT officials are mulling to protect senior citizens from deadly coronavirus disease by testing more and more samples to isolate the corona positive diagnosed patients in the city. Already civic body health department personnel started door to door survey for collecting over 60 years above citizens personal details. And also they are interacting with those family members of the senior citizens and explaining to them how to protect the elders from coronavirus spread.

In this regard Commissioner PS Girisha said that if any senior citizen can come for covid-19 test at MCT urban health centres where the arrangements were made for collecting testing samples. ” We are ready to conduct covid-19 test to above 60 seniors at free of cost. Only thing is they have to come forward to give samples for covid-19 test. In the city, abnormally cases are increasing day by day, in the circumstance we are taking all the possible steps to protect elders in the city.” Commissioner further added.
