Media Role Key For Democracy: KTR
Hyderabad, Oct.14 (Maxim News): Minister KT Rama Rao today said newspapers’ cooperation was essential to flourish democracy.
He was launching “Mudra” Telugu Daily at his camp office here along with its Editor E Indra Reddy. Appreciating him for launching the newspaper, KT Rama Rao asked the media to play a key role in exposing the problems of the people and get them to the notice of the government to address. The media has to give adequate publicity on the use of EVMs and their functioning in the upcoming elections, he said. “Ensure that 100 per cent of voters turnout to exercise their franchise using the EVMs and VVPATS”, KTR said.
Stating that enrolment of voters is a continuous process, KTR said the people can register their names online to become voters before the issue of notification for the elections. On this, the newspapers and electronic media have to provide adequate publicity for the people to understand the electioneering process and voting pattern in the elections. The government will extend all support to the media sector in the State, he vowed.
