Medigadda Project Damaged Due To Poor Quality And High Corruption: Uttam

Hyderabad, Feb 17 (Maxim News): The State government had tabled a “White Paper ” on the Telangana Irrigation sector in the Legislative Assembly. Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy gave a presentation stating that the medigadda Barrage is very important in the kaleshwaram project. The Previous BRS government headed by KCR had planned to irrigate 19 lakh acres through medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages. Unfortunately, the Medigadda barrage sagged. The barrage collapsed due to design, construction defects, and Operation and Maintenance oversight.

The barrage, which was supposed to last for a hundred years, was brought to a state of collapse in just three years, said Uttam  Through the presentation, the minister explained the cracks that had formed from the bottom to the top of the collapsed barrage and pillar 20.

Medigadda is in this condition due to the mismanagement and corruption of the previous government.  Tenders were called for Rs. 1800 crores. After that, the estimated cost was increased to Rs. 4,500 crore.  This is, it is understood how much corruption has happened. This kind of corruption did not happen in independent India. Nothing is going to happen anymore. On October 21 of last year, medigadda collapsed. Former Chief Minister KCR did not respond to this matter for a single day till we came to power.

The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has the authority to give advice and suggestions on projects.  The NDSA report has clearly stated that Medigadda was damaged due to a lack of planning, design, and supervision. Uttam said that the Annaram barrage is facing this kind of danger in the report.

For every rupee made by the previous BRS government, the benefit was 52 paise. The CAG report said that the monopolists have benefited. In the Kaleswaram project, if all the pumps work, 203 million units of electricity will be consumed per day. A day’s electricity consumption of all sectors in the state is only 196 million units. Kaleshwaram electricity charges are Rs. 10,374 crore per annum. Mallanna Sagar built it without conducting any survey. Even a small vibration can lead to danger. Uttam explained that the CAG said that there was a danger to the public within the scope of that project.
