Hyderabad, August 11: A four-year-old boy died on Tuesday after his father allegedly attacked him near Pillar No. 104 of the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, police said.
The child, Armaan, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Following his death, Gudimalkapur police converted the case into a murder case.
The boy’s father, Salman, 25, a resident of Golconda, was already in police custody and remains the sole accused in the case.
The attack took place on August 5 under Gudimalkapur police limits. According to police, Salman struck Armaan’s head against a pillar with a stone before throwing him to the ground.
He allegedly then attempted to push the child under a moving lorry. However, nearby residents intervened, overpowered him and alerted the police.
Police said Salman had a history of alcohol abuse and frequent disputes with his wife. Investigators suspect the marital conflict may have been linked to the attack.
The accused had reportedly told family members that he was taking Armaan to relatives in Aramghar. Instead, police said, he took the child towards the expressway.
Following the child’s death, police are conducting further investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
