A private air-conditioned sleeper bus carrying 29 passengers narrowly escaped disaster after catching fire near Veliminedu village in Nalgonda district, about 150 km from Hyderabad, early Tuesday morning. The bus, operated by Vihari Travels, was en route from Hyderabad to Kandukur in Andhra Pradesh when the blaze occurred.

The journey began around midnight in Hyderabad. Just before reaching Veliminedu in Chityal mandal, fire suddenly broke out inside the vehicle. Thanks to the quick response of the bus driver, passengers were alerted in time to break window panes and jump out to safety.

The fire rapidly consumed the bus, leaving it completely destroyed and twisted into mangled metal. Initial reports confirm that 20 passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the fire. The bus was registered in Nagaland.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire to determine whether a technical fault or other reasons led to the incident. Meanwhile, the safe escape of all passengers is being hailed as miraculous given the severity of the blaze.
