Modi insulted martyrs of Telangana by questioning process of State bifurcation: Shabbir Ali

Kamareddy: Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should’ve first apologised to the families of Telangana martyrs before addressing the party’s public meeting ‘Vijaya Sankalpa Sabha’ in Hyderabad.

Addressing a series of meetings as part of Congress Raithu Rachabanda in Nadimi Thanda, Utham Thankda, Bodaguttu Thanda, Ankireddy Palli, Ellampet and Raj Khanpet villages in Machareddy Mandal of Kamareddy district, Shabbir Ali alleged that the BJP Govt has been discriminating against Telangana ever since its formation in 2014. He said Modi even insulted the martyrs of Telangana by questioning the process adopted for the formation of a new State. “Telangana became a reality due to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. We are fortunate that the new State has been formed before 2014 under Congress’s rule. Otherwise, PM Modi would’ve crushed the statehood movement exactly the way he is suppressing all public movements across the country,” he added.

Shabbir Ali pointed out that Modi first introduced three farm laws to hand over the entire agriculture sector to his friends. He later tried to crush the farmers’ agitation and did not even blink even after 700 farmers lost their lives. It was only due to Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and other States, PM Modi repealed the black laws. He said assurances given to farmers at the time of the repeal of farm laws were yet to be honoured.

The Congress leader said the Prime Minister’s speech during BJP’s public meeting at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad was highly disappointing. PM Modi did not speak about the rising unemployment in the country. He did not specify when people would get Rs 15 lakh each in their bank accounts. He said Modi’s controversial decision of demonetisation has completely ruined the country’s economy.

Shabbir Ali ridiculed PM Modi’s claims on the Centre helping the people during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said memories of migrant workers, who were forced to walk for hundreds of kilometres to reach their homes, were still fresh in people’s minds. He said lakhs of daily wage workers starved and even begged for food during the unplanned lockdown. He said hundreds of lives were lost due to the lack of oxygen and other medical facilities. However, he said that the BJP Govt shamelessly rejected all those reports and today, PM Modi is making a false claim that his government helped people during the Covid-19 crisis.

The Congress leader said Modi Govt had pushed the country into a huge debt by borrowing about Rs. 100 Lakh crore in the last eight years. Instead of augmenting local resources, Modi Govt waived off corporate loans of about Rs. 11 lakh crore taken by a few of his friends while he burdened the common people with several taxes and cesses. Shabbir Ali said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was just a replica of PM Modi when it comes to cheating and deceiving the common people. He said common people have suffered under the BJP-TRS regime. He said whatever development took place in the country and Telangana, happened only during the Congress rule.

The Congress leader said the Congress party granted statehood for Telangana and it would ensure its development after coming to power in the next elections. He said that Congress would implement all the promises made in the Warangal Declaration announced by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 6. He said farmers would be given a crop loan waiver up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take. Further, he said that the farmers would be given financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 per acre per crop. He said Rs. 12,000 would be paid to landless agriculture labourers registered with the NREGS. He said that the next Congress Govt would give ownership rights to the Tribals who are doing cultivation on Podu lands.

The meetings were also attended by senior Congress leaders, including Ganesh Naik, Bhim Reddy, Aireni Sandeep, Gone Srinivas, Sudarshan Ella Goud, Osman Mohammed Khan and others. (Maxim News)
