Modi Put Economy In ICU By Demonetization: PC
Hyderabad, Feb.8 (Maxim News): Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Saturday alleged that the economic situation in the country was in intensive care unit. He said the demonetization decision of the BJP government had a serious negative impact on the micro and middle level industries in the country.
Addressing a gathering at an event held by the AICC on the issue of the Union budget and Indian economic situation at Muffakam Jha college here, Chidambaram said the BJP government had failed to properly implement the GST although it was a good initiative. He also said the GDP had fallen to 5% from 8.5%. He alleged that all the departments and systems in the country were on the verge of collapse. He alleged that a cut of around Rs 1 lakh crore was made in the budget to food and agriculture sectors by the Centre.
Alleging that the Centre had forgotten the mid-day meal scheme meant for the poor children, Chidambaram said the Narendra Modi government had ignored the skill development in the country resulting in the closure of several small and mid-level industries. He also said the automobile sector plunged into a severe crisis.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Chidambaram alleged that the former was behaving like a friend to the BJP for sometime and foe for sometime. He also asked the Chief Minister to question the Centre the funds the Modi government owed to the youngest State.
