Musi River | Hyderabad, Sept. 24: Irrigation officials issued a flood alert for downstream areas of the Musi Project on Thursday following rising inflows.
The water level reached 640.58 feet against the Full Reservoir Level of 645 feet.
The project currently holds 3.35 TMC of water against its total capacity of 4.46 TMC.
Officials recorded inflows of 1,150 cusecs over the past 24 hours due to upstream rainfall.
They warned that inflows could increase further in the coming hours.
Musi River Flood Alert Issued for Downstream Villages
Officials said the Musi Project gates could be opened if inflows intensify.
They urged residents not to enter the river or attempt to cross streams and rivulets.
The warning covers villages in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts.
An alert was issued for 20 villages across Suryapet, Penpahad and Palakeedu mandals.
These include Ratnapuram, Anantharam and Chintakuntla.
Another warning covers 21 villages across Kethepally, Madugulapally and Miryalaguda mandals.
These include Bheemaram, Amanagal and Vadapalli.
The Irrigation Executive Engineer directed residents in downstream areas to follow official instructions.
Officials also advised residents to remain in safe locations and stay alert to further developments.
