Nabard Releases Rs 1.66 lakh cr Vision Plan: Niranjan Reddy

Hyderabad, Jan.27 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today urged that NABARD should extend funding and cooperation for alternate crops by farmers in the state. Nabard has released a vision document agriculture plan of Rs 1,66,384 cr for 2022-23 financial year in the state.

Niranjan Reddy attended the crucial meeting along with Panchayat Raj Minister E Dayakar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Finance secretary Ramkrishna Rao and other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Nabard is extending support for farming activities and irrigation. The government took up mission bhagiratha, mission kakatiya and built Kaleshwaram by taking help from Nabard, he said.

He urged that the agriculture bank should support the government plan to take up oil palm cultivation in the state. The government now plans to push for 500 acres oil palm cultivation in every district.

For this the agriculture bank has to offer its support to ensure that the farmers take up alternative crops, he said. The minister said that the state government is for farming activities through multiple schemes.

The government is for setting up food processing zones and units in the state as per requirements, he said and urged the bank of agriculture and local banks to support the plan.

The local banks should help the government to set up food processing units, build godowns, facilities and infrastructure and export facilities.

He hoped that the banks would offer necessary help to increase the income of the farmers. The minister appreciated that the Nabard offering better support to cooperative sector. He also hoped that the oil palm and alternate crops will be taken up for benefiting the farmers in the state. (Maxim News)
