The dam authorities lifted 15 of the dam’s 26 crest gates by five metres to let off substantial inflows ensuring flood control downstream.  As of today, the dam is receiving an inflow of 201.743 cusecs, primarily from upstream reservoirs like Srisailam, Almatti, Narayanpur and tungabhadra.  The outflow has been regulated at 41.497 cusecs to balance the reservoir’s storage.  The current water level stands at 586.80 feet, just 3.2 feet short of the dam’s full capacity.

With a recent storage of 304.4680 TMC against a full capacity of 312.04 TMC, the reservoir is at 98% of its capacity, marking a historic high for July, as reported by local officials.  This water level has prompted the release of water to the Nagarjuna Sagar project’s left and right canals, ensuring irrigation support for agricultural lands across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
