Hyderabad, May 18: A young woman from Telangana lost her life in a tragic road accident in the United States while returning home with friends in Chicago.

The deceased was identified as Navya, 24, daughter of Gadasu Srinivas Reddy from Cheruvugattu village in Narketpally mandal of Nalgonda district.

According to family members, Navya had moved to the United States around two-and-a-half years ago to pursue higher education. She had completed her MS degree and was reportedly working part time in Chicago.

The accident occurred while Navya and three of her friends were travelling home after work. Reports said another speeding vehicle rammed into their car from behind, leading to a severe collision.

Navya reportedly died on the spot due to the impact of the accident.

Minister Komatireddy Expresses Grief

News of Navya’s sudden death plunged her native village into grief. Family members and relatives were left devastated after learning about the incident.

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the death of the young student.

In a post on X, the minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and described Navya’s death as an irreparable loss.

He stated that the Telangana government would extend all possible support to the family during this difficult time.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also said efforts were underway to bring Navya’s mortal remains back to her native village at the earliest.

According to the minister, discussions were held with senior officials and representatives of Telugu associations in the United States, including TANA and ATA, to facilitate the process.

The incident once again highlighted the growing concerns over road safety accidents involving Indian students abroad.
