Hyderabad, March 23: The Ministry of Mines, Government of India, will organise the National District Mineral Foundation Summit 2026 on March 23 and 24 at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi. The summit, titled “Effective Utilization of District Mineral Funds for ADP/ABP Areas,” aims to improve the use of DMF funds in mining-affected districts.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy will inaugurate the event. He will attend in the presence of Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey and Secretary, Ministry of Mines Shri Piyush Goyal. The summit will focus on strengthening coordination between governments and identifying policy reforms. It will also aim to improve outcome-based use of funds in Aspirational District Programme and Aspirational Block Programme areas.

Meanwhile, the two-day event will bring together senior officials from central ministries, state governments, district administrations, NITI Aayog, and other stakeholders. They will discuss challenges, best practices, and reform measures related to DMF planning, implementation, and monitoring. Therefore, the summit is expected to serve as a key platform for policy dialogue and coordination.

Earlier, the Ministry of Mines carried out a consultative exercise to gather inputs. A concept note was shared in January 2026 with DMF states, 306 DMF districts in ADP and ABP areas, and NITI Aayog. Later, a virtual national consultation was held, followed by another round in February. States also conducted internal discussions and submitted key inputs, including challenges and recommendations.

Based on these inputs, the ministry prepared a comprehensive final note. This document will guide the summit discussions. The summit will also cover governance, transparency, convergence, impact assessment, and performance. Presentations by state representatives, NITI Aayog, and BiSAG-N will take place, followed by discussions.

Additionally, a DMF exhibition will be held alongside the summit. It will showcase successful projects funded through DMF resources. These projects will cover sectors such as health, nutrition, water supply, education, skill development, livelihoods, renewable energy, and infrastructure. The exhibition will highlight the role of DMF funds in supporting development in mining-affected areas.

The National DMF Summit 2026 is expected to help build consensus on reform priorities. It will also aim to strengthen convergence with national development programmes and improve fund utilisation for inclusive growth.
