National Employment Guarantee Act Changes: Congress to Protest in Telangana

National Employment Guarantee Act | Hyderabad, Jan. 27: The Congress has announced nationwide protests opposing the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name and proposed changes to the National Employment Guarantee Act.

The party said it will intensify its agitation across the country in the coming days.

As part of the protest plan, the Congress will hold constituency wise village meetings with job card holders under the National Employment Guarantee Act in Telangana from January 28 to January 31. The party said these programmes aim to mobilise workers and explain its stand on the issue.

Congress party in charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud will tour several districts during the programme. District Congress Committee presidents, concerned MLAs, and local Congress leaders will also take part in the constituency visits.

According to the schedule, meetings will begin on January 28 in the Medak and Manakondur constituencies.

On January 29, programmes will be held in Vemulawada and Yellareddy. On January 30, leaders will visit Medaram to offer prayers at the Sammakka Saralamma shrine.

Later that evening, they will attend a village meeting in the Alair constituency.

National Employment Guarantee Act | Village Meetings Planned

On January 31, village meetings will be organised in Nakrekal and Ibrahimpatnam constituencies. The party said that two meetings will be held in each constituency, one in the morning and one in the evening, covering different villages.

During the village meetings, Congress leaders will interact directly with National Employment Guarantee Act workers.

They will explain the Centre’s policies related to the scheme and the structure of the proposed new system to job card holders.

The party also said that along with meetings, Congress leaders will share a community meal with National Employment Guarantee Act job card holders as part of the outreach programme.
