NGT Chennai Makes Serious Remarks on AP Irrigation Projects
Hyderabad, Aug.16 (Maxim News): National Green Tribunal (NGT) of Chennai today expressed serious concern at the violations of irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh state.
After taking note of violations of irrigation projects by AP as per the report by the board, the NGT got furious on the government. It seems the irrigation officials colluded with environment wing and so built illegal projects the tribunal observed.
NGT said that whether officials in such cases were sent to jail can we do so or take action through the Hugh court. The tribunal observed that the government of Andhra Pradesh has violated norms of the irrigation projects and built mire structures.
A team of KRMB with a central secretary as its member submitted a report to the tribunal with details and photos of the projects in AP. The team informed that there are more projects than required in the state built by the government. While submitting the report on the projects it visited the board officials opined that the government of AP has violated norms.
Thus the Telangana government complaints and obections were proved right that more projects were built by AP and more water taken away than allocated.
The Telangana government repeatedly alleged that the government of Jagan Mohan Reddy has violated projects’ norms and looted its water. It also urged the board to stop looting of water and illegal activities at the projects in AP. On this
AP has violated norms of the irrigation projects Rayalaseema lift irrigation project and Pothireddipadu expansion works and some other related projects. The tribunal while hearing the case said that more number of the projects were built in AP against the previous orders and norms.
