No Confidence Motion Against Om Birla on March 9

Hyderabad: The no confidence motion against Om Birla will be debated and voted on March 9, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Sunday. The discussion will take place on the first day of the second Budget Session of Parliament. The opposition moved the motion to remove the Lok Sabha Speaker from office.

No Confidence Motion Against Om Birla to Be Debated

Kiren Rijiju said the rules require that such a discussion be held on the first day of the session. Therefore, the debate on the no confidence motion against Om Birla has been scheduled for March 9. The voting will also take place on the same day.

The opposition accused Om Birla of being clearly biased against them. As a result, they submitted a no confidence notice seeking his removal as Lok Sabha Speaker. The development made the discussion unavoidable. Hence, the government placed the motion for debate at the start of the session.

Meanwhile, Kiren Rijiju also announced that the second session of the Budget Session will run from March 9 to April 2.
