No curbs on media, but it has no immunity against law says Naidu
Amidst the ongoing debate on dissent, intolerance and attacks on media, Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today warned that ”anti-India propaganda” will not be allowed in the garb of ”anti-government” campaign, and media had no immunity against the law of the land.
”Dissent is understandable but disintegration is not acceptable at all,” Mr Naidu said in his speech at the annual Aakashvani Awards function organised by the Prasar Bharati here this evening.
In an obvious reference to CBI raids against NDTV in an alleged loan default case, he said the inquiry against a TV channel was being described as a ”seige”, but it should be clear to all that nobody, including media, could claim immunity against rules and regulations.
