Hyderabad, April 15 (Maxim News): Telangana Veterinary Director Dr. V. Lakshma Reddy said there is no evidence of pet owners to panic because there is no evidence of pet animals can cause the infection of COVID – 19 or that they get COVID -19 virus from human beings.
In a statement here, he stated that, there are about 2 lakhs of pets in GHMC area. Some of the pet owners out of fear of corona virus infection from their pets, they are letting out their pet in to streets. He advised the pet owners not to free their pets in to streets.
There were fears over corona virus COVID – 19 spreading through pets when the Out Breaks of corona virus. But dogs and cats do get corona virus and they are not the same viruses associated with this outbreak. Veterinary Scientists say that the strains of dogs and cats do not cause respiratory problems. Dogs and Cats are not a risk in spreading the corona virus
He said that to be safe pet owners wash their hands after being around their animals and avoid direct contact. There is no evidence of pets becoming sick withCOVID–19. Infected pet owners with COVID – 19 should be isolated and quarantined. The disease is spreading from person to person either from people close
together (OR) from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs and sneezes, he added. (Maxim News)
