Oil Tanker Drivers Call Off Strike

Hyderabad, Jan 2 (Maxim News): Oil tanker drivers have called off their dharna in Hyderabad, With this, tankers with loads of petrol and diesel left for the bunks from the depots in Cherlapally.  As these may take some time to reach the bunks, the traffic of motorists will continue there for a while.  Motorists have already lined up at the bunks for fuel since this morning.

The Indian penal code has recently increased the jail term for hit-and-run cases.  In protest against this, the owners and drivers of oil tankers went on dharna from Monday (January 1), due to this, the fuel supply to the petrol stations in Hyderabad has stopped.

The owners put up no stock boards in front of the bunks.  Motorists were alerted by this.  People queued up in front of some of the bunks that were open, causing traffic jams in many places. Motorists breathed a sigh of relief as oil tankers called off their dharna on Tuesday evening.  (Maxim News)
