Ola Electric Mobility Ltd launched its highly anticipated third-generation electric scooters on January 31, 2025. The announcement was made by the company’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news. He described the upcoming Gen 3 scooters as a major leap forward, surpassing Gen 2 models in performance, features, and design. Additionally, Aggarwal hinted at surprise innovation that could once again redefine the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry.
Major Performance and Cost Efficiency
The new Gen 3 platform is expected to significantly boost Ola Electric’s profit margins, with an estimated 20% improvement in gross margins over the next 12 months. According to a report by PTI, which cited Aggarwal’s statements from a second-quarter analyst call, these gains will come from a redesigned electronics system, an optimized battery structure, and improved manufacturing techniques.
“In terms of gross margin, we expect about a 20-point improvement as Gen 3 plays out over the next 12 months step-by-step,” Aggarwal stated.
Innovative Electronics Architecture
A key upgrade in the Gen 3 scooters is a re-engineered electronics platform, which will reduce the number of Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Instead of multiple separate components, Ola has developed a more compact, single-board system, leading to increased efficiency, lower costs, and improved vehicle performance.

Enhanced Battery Design
Ola Electric is also making significant advancements in battery technology. The company has redesigned the battery structure to eliminate unnecessary layers of plastic, making the scooter lighter and more energy-efficient. This change is expected to enhance the vehicle’s overall range and longevity, providing customers with a more powerful and durable EV.
Optimized Manufacturing Process
Beyond technological improvements, Ola Electric has reworked the mechanical structure and manufacturing processes in its production facilities. By refining fabrication techniques, the company aims to lower manufacturing costs while maintaining high-quality standards. This streamlined production approach will allow Ola to scale up operations more efficiently and meet the growing demand for electric scooters.
A Game-Changer for the EV Industry
With these innovations, Ola Electric continues to strengthen its position as a leader in India’s EV market. The company has been at the forefront of electric mobility solutions, and the launch of the Gen 3 scooters is expected to further redefine the two-wheeler EV segment..
As anticipation builds, industry experts and consumers alike are eager to see how Ola Electric’s latest offering will push the boundaries of performance, design, and sustainability. (Maxim News)
