Omar Abdullah | Srinagar/Hyderabad, Sept 25: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved a resolution in the Legislative Assembly on Friday seeking restoration of full statehood.
Abdullah moved the resolution after Question Hour as BJP members protested in the House.
The resolution calls upon the Centre to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
It also proposes forwarding the resolution to the Union government.

Abdullah referred to the sequence of commitments made to Jammu and Kashmir.
He said people were told that delimitation would be followed by elections and then restoration of statehood.
Delimitation and Assembly elections have since taken place, he said. However, statehood remains pending.
The resolution refers to earlier resolutions passed by the House in June 2000 and November 2024.
It calls for the “immediate and urgent restoration” of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The current resolution focuses specifically on restoring full statehood.
Abdullah said the move was intended to remind the Centre of its commitment to restore statehood.
He also referred to the responsibilities that would return with statehood, including law and order.
The resolution triggered protests from BJP members, who objected to its references to earlier Assembly resolutions.
The protests led to noisy scenes and heated exchanges between treasury benches and BJP members.
The Supreme Court, while upholding the constitutional validity of the 2019 reorganisation, had said statehood for Jammu and Kashmir should be restored at the earliest.
The current Assembly session began on September 21 and is scheduled to continue until September 30.
