Omar posted the photographs on X on Saturday with the caption, “A new journey began yesterday.”

Supreme Court Dissolved Omar Abdullah’s Marriage in July
The Supreme Court dissolved the marriage between Omar Abdullah and his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, by mutual consent on July 31, 2026.
A bench comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe heard the matter. It exercised its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to dissolve the marriage.
The couple married on September 1, 1994, and had been living separately since 2009. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.
Omar’s earlier divorce pleas, citing cruelty and desertion, were dismissed by a family court in 2016. The Delhi High Court upheld that decision in December 2023.
However, both parties later reached an amicable settlement through court-directed mediation. Senior counsel Kapil Sibal informed the Supreme Court that they had resolved pending disputes.
They also agreed to withdraw related litigation.
Nidhi Razdan, 49, is a journalist and former executive editor of NDTV. She is the daughter of senior journalist Maharaj Krishan Razdan.
Originally from Budgam district in central Kashmir, she studied at Apeejay School in New Delhi. She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College.
