One-Month Training Programme for Undergraduate Tribal Students of Telangana at Osmania University

Hyderabad, Jan 3 (Maxim News): A One-Month Residential Training Programme for Imparting English Language and Communication Skills for Undergraduate Tribal Students of Telangana, was inaugurated today at Osmania University. This program is sponsored by the Governor of Telangana and organized under the auspices of the English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), Osmania University.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of Jishnu Dev Verma, Governor of Telangana, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University.

J. Bhavani Shankar, Joint Secretary to the Governor (SS), Government of Telangana, was also present, along with Prof. C. Kaseem, Principal, University College of Arts & Social Sciences, OU, as a special invitee. The training program aims to bridge the language proficiency gap among tribal students, enabling them to excel in academics and future professional pursuits.

Speaking at the event, the Governor emphasized the transformative power of education and effective communication in uplifting marginalized communities. He pointed out that English is no longer a language of oppression,  but a language of Universal Expression. Education is all about empowerment.  Education is the only thing that facilitates breaking barriers. The efforts of Education should be continuous and sustainable.  The vision of Vikasit Bharat is to make Education and Healthcare inclusive. The road to progress is one and words like mainstream and marginalized should not cause hindrances any longer.

Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, lauded the initiative, underscoring the university’s commitment to inclusive education and fostering opportunities for the underserved sections of society. Prof. B. Vijaya, Head of the Department of English and Director of ELTC, who is the Convener of the program, expressed her gratitude for the support extended by the Governor and highlighted the comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance both written and verbal communication skills. She conveyed that 66 students are participating from 33 Districts of Telangana in the Residential program.

Program Highlights:

Residential Facilities: A conducive environment for holistic learning and peer interaction.

This initiative marks a significant step towards empowering tribal youth, enabling them to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.

Resource persons are drawn from reputable institutions across India. Prof. Saveen Souda and Dr. K. W. Christopher are the Coordinators for this month-long program.
