Operation Sindoor Remarks By Farooq Abdullah Spark Controversy
- Former CM hints at possible Operation Sindoor after Delhi terror attack
- Comments on Indo-Pak relations and police station blast stir reactions
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has sparked a new political storm with his recent comments linking the Delhi terror attacks to a possible “Operation Sindoor.” Speaking to the media in Srinagar, the senior leader said there is a possibility of another operation like Operation Sindoor in the wake of repeated terror attacks across the country. His remarks have invited wide criticism from political circles and netizens alike.
Responding to the recent car bomb blast in Delhi and the arrest of doctors with alleged terror links in Faridabad, Abdullah questioned the motives behind their actions. He said, “Why did the doctors choose that route for the attack in Delhi? What is the reason? Questions should be asked to those responsible. A thorough investigation should be conducted into this matter. There is a need to study it. I hope that another operation like Operation Sindoor does not take place in the country in the wake of the terror attacks.”
The former CM also recalled that Operation Sindoor did not yield any positive results and claimed that it led to the death of 18 people. He emphasized that improving ties with Pakistan is the only way forward for lasting peace. “I would like to repeat the words of former Prime Minister Vajpayee that friends can be changed, but neighbors cannot be changed,” he said.
However, his comments have sparked outrage online. Many social media users questioned his remarks, with some asking, “What is friendship with Pakistan?” Meanwhile, Abdullah also reacted to the recent explosion at a Srinagar police station, blaming it on mishandling of explosives by authorities. “This was our mistake. Those who were knowledgeable about explosives should have talked to the authorities about how to handle them. Instead of doing so, they tried to handle it themselves,” he said, expressing regret that nine people lost their lives and several houses were damaged in the blast.
