Ordnance Factory Medak: SS Prasad is the new CGM

Ordnance Factory Medak | Secunderabad, July 1: On 1st July 2024, S. S. Prasad, IOFS, graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (UK), took over as Chief General Manager of Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK), a premier unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence after superannuation of K. Sudhakar, IOFS.

OFMK is engaged in the manufacture and supply of Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICV) and its variants to the Indian Army.

Ordnance Factory Medak

S. S. Prasad joined Indian Ordnance Factories in April 1992. After completing 15 months of Probationer’s Training at the National Academy of Defence Production, Nagpur, he started his professional career as an Assistant Works Manager at Optoelectronics Factory Dehradun in July 1993.

He served there for nearly seven years before his transfer to the Ordnance Parachute Factory (OPF) Kanpur in February 2002. After three years at OPF Kanpur, he moved to OFMK in May 2005 where he gained rich experience in BMP assembly, it’s testing and trials, machining of intricate mechanical components, and material management over the next four years.

In February 2009, he was transferred to Ordnance Factory Dehradun and served there for four years. Thereafter, he was posted to Vehicle Factory Jabalpur in June 2013, where he worked with Class-B vehicles for almost three years.

In June 2016, he moved on Central Deputation to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj GoI New Delhi as Director, where he spent seven years and was instrumental in framing and implementation of Central Sector as well as Centrally Sponsored Schemes and other initiatives for capacitating Panchayati Raj Institutions, Elected Representatives of Panchayats, representatives of line departments and other stakeholders across all States/UTs.

After repatriation on successful completion of Central Deputation, he returned to OFMK as General Manager in September 2023 and took over as Chief General Manager on 1st July 2024.

On this occasion, OFMK congratulates Shri S. S. Prasad, on taking charge as Chief General Manager and wishes him success in every endeavor in the new role in the coming years. Under his able leadership and guidance, OFMK is committed towards all round progress, meeting all commitments and customers’ expectations in time.
