Osmania University Commemorates 78th Independence Day With Patriotic Spirit

Hyderabad, Aug 15 (Maxim News): Osmania University marked the 78th Independence Day with a grand ceremony at the historic Arts College building. The event was graced by M. Dana Kishore,  In-Charge Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, who hoisted the national flag amidst a gathering of esteemed faculty, students, and special guests.

Prominent attendees included Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar of Osmania University; Prof. B. Reddya Naik, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Syeda Talath Sulthana, Principal of University College of Arts & Social Sciences; Deans of various faculties; Principles of campus and constituent colleges; Directors and Heads of Departments; and distinguished faculty members. The ceremony also welcomed senior scientists from ISRO, Dr. P. Sreelatha and P. Pradeep Kumar, who were honored as special guests. Members of the Osmania University Teachers Association, non-teaching staff associations, research scholars, and students were also present, making the event a truly inclusive celebration.

M. Dana Kishore Addresses The Gathering

In his address, M. Dana Kishore reflected on the significance of Independence Day, urging everyone to remember the sacrifices made by the nation’s freedom fighters. He highlighted Osmania University’s rich history, noting its vital role in the Quit India Movement of 1942 and its longstanding contribution to the intellectual and political awakening of the region.

Today, as we stand united on the grounds of Osmania University—a beacon of knowledge and patriotism—we not only celebrate our independence but also recommit ourselves to building a better future for all Indians,” said Dana Kishore. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the nation’s democratic values and fostering an inclusive, egalitarian society. He called on the university community to continue contributing to nation-building by providing quality education imbued with human values.

Addressing the students, Dana. Kishore emphasized their role as the torchbearers of the nation’s future. He encouraged them to embrace inquiry, critical thinking, and social responsibility, and to take on the challenges of the 21st century with resilience and innovation. He also urged research scholars to pursue their studies with passion and purpose, highlighting the potential of their work to address societal challenges and drive India’s progress.

OU Vice-Chancellor Expresses Gratitude

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members for their dedication to teaching, research, and nation-building, and commended the non-teaching staff for their essential role in the smooth functioning of the university.

Dana. Kishore concluded his speech with a call to action, urging everyone to be ambassadors of change and to uphold the values of democracy, secularism, and unity. He quoted Babasaheb Bhimrao  Ambedkar, saying, “Freedom of mind is the real freedom,” and led the assembly in a resounding chorus of “Jai Bharat
