Hyderabad: Osmania University growth and future direction came into focus when Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram called on Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday. The Vice Chancellor, accompanied by Registrar Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, paid a courtesy visit and conveyed New Year greetings on behalf of the entire teaching and non teaching fraternity of Osmania University. Dana Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was also present during the meeting.

During the interaction, the Governor expressed deep satisfaction with recent developments at Osmania University. He appreciated the strong momentum in academic, administrative, and institutional progress. He also lauded the sanction of ₹1,000 Crores by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for strengthening infrastructure facilities across the University. The Governor described the funding as a landmark initiative in the 108 year old legacy of Osmania University. He observed that this support reflected the State Government’s commitment to higher education and its resolve to place Osmania University on par with leading universities across the globe.

The Governor further expressed happiness over the improvement in Osmania University growth indicators. He noted progress in enhanced NIRF rankings and steady movement towards international accreditations under the present administration. Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor briefed the Governor on ongoing reforms and outcomes linked to governance, academics, and administration.

On the occasion, Prof. Kumar Molugaram presented the Osmania University Diary, Calendar, and the One Year Progress Report to the Governor. Later, the meeting saw detailed discussions on academic, research, administrative, and developmental initiatives. These included quality improvement in teaching and learning, infrastructure expansion, governance reforms, and welfare measures for faculty and students. The long term vision and strategic priorities of the University were also discussed.

The Vice Chancellor also formally invited the Governor to attend the Vice Chancellors’ Conference proposed at Osmania University in February 2026. He said the conference would bring together academicians, policy makers, and think tanks from across India to discuss the future of higher education. In addition, he invited the Governor to participate in International Women’s Day celebrations, planned to inspire women faculty members, staff, and students by bringing together distinguished Indian women achievers.

Accepting the invitations, the Governor conveyed his willingness to participate in these initiatives. He also extended his best wishes for a productive and successful year ahead to the Osmania University community. Therefore, the meeting marked an important moment in the continued Osmania University growth journey.
