Hyderabad, Sept. 3: Osmania University will hold its 85th Convocation on September 8, with 640 PhD degrees and 71 Gold Medals to be awarded.
The ceremony will begin at 9 am at the Tagore Auditorium on the university campus. Telangana Governor and OU Chancellor Shiv Pratap Shukla will preside over the event.
Dr. Krishna M. Ella, Founder and Chairman of Bharat Biotech, will attend as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
Osmania University Prepares for 85th Convocation
Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram announced the details at a press conference at the OU Guest House.
He was accompanied by Registrar Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, OSD Prof. S. Jithendra Kumar Naik and Controller of Examinations Prof. Sudhakar Reddy.
The university will confer 640 PhD degrees on researchers from various departments under 12 faculties. It will also award 71 Gold Medals to meritorious students.
Officials said teaching and non teaching staff are working through various committees to coordinate the event.
The university has arranged separate seating for degree recipients, Gold Medal winners, dignitaries, sponsors and media personnel. Parking facilities will also be organised.
Officials urged attendees to follow security guidelines and prescribed protocols during the ceremony.
The university will share the official YouTube livestream link before the event. Only authorised university photographers and videographers will be allowed inside the venue.
Attendees have been asked not to take personal photographs or videos during the proceedings. They have also been instructed not to enter the main stage area.
Designated photography and selfie zones will be available outside the main proceedings. Students and families can use these areas before or after the ceremony.
Official high resolution photographs will be made available on the Osmania University website after the event.
The university said the arrangements aim to ensure a dignified, smooth and disciplined 85th Convocation.
