OTP must to get monthly ration, people express grief
Hyderabad, February 4: Panic gripped among the citizens of Telangana after the government-mandated Aadhaar linked OTP to get the monthly subsidised ration.
It is known that recently the government has mandated OTP to get the ration but people expressing worry after the decision of the state government.

People thronged to Meeseva centres to link their mobile numbers to Aadhaar after the government’s announcement.
Some people said that they even don’t have a mobile and expressed their grief after the new rule.
The government took the decision after a few filed a petition in the court citing giving ration by taking thumb impressions may throw the people into the risk of contacting the Coronavirus.
It is to mention here that the IRIS Authentication system is unavailable at Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts. Thus, the ration will be distributed with the help of Mobile One time Password (OTP).
The Chief Rationing Officer of Hyderabad said that ration material will be distributed on Monday (February 1) from 670 fair shops only after Mobile OTP authentication. There are 87,44,251 ration cardholders in the state of Telangana.
The number of cardholders in Hyderabad district is 5,80,680, while in Rangareddy the number is 5,24,656. There are 4,94,881 in Medchal Malkajgiri, 2,34,940 in Vikarabad.
Chief Rationing Officer of Hyderabad B. Bala Maya Devi she stated that commodities would be issued only with the help of mobile OTP authentication in all the 670 fair price shops in Hyderabad from February 1.
The household supply – ration, food security, annapurna, antyodaya – cardholders in the State would get the supply of commodities allotted to them with the help of IRIS or mobile OTP authentication from February 1, instead of biometric system that has been in practice so far due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
