Palamuru And Dindi Project: 920 Cr Fine To Telangana

Chennai/Hyderabad, Dec 22 (Maxim News): The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in Chennai has imposed a massive fine on the Telangana government for undertaking the construction of the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project and the Dindi project taken upon the Krishna river without having environmental permits.

The NGT has imposed a whopping Rs. 920 crores fine. The Chennai NGT Bench headed by Justice Pushpa Satyanarayana has heard the petition filed by the Andhra Pradesh government has found that there are no environmental permits and imposed a fine equal to 1.5 percent of the estimated cost of the project.

It may be recalled that earlier in the past, the NGT directed the Telangana government to stop works on both projects till it gets permission following a complaint by Andhra Pradesh, however, as there was no response from the Telangana government, the NGT imposed a fine. (Maxim News)
