Hyderabad: Paripurna Mediclaim AYUSH Bima was launched on Wednesday by the Union Finance Ministry for beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme. The new insurance product is available as a top up scheme and allows beneficiaries to purchase coverage based on their individual choice. The move aims to provide higher financial protection for inpatient hospital treatment across the country.
According to the details shared, Paripurna Mediclaim AYUSH Bima offers insurance coverage ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. The scheme applies to inpatient hospital treatment and is open to CGHS beneficiaries nationwide. Therefore, beneficiaries can opt for higher coverage beyond their existing benefits under the health scheme.

The policy also includes a co payment mechanism. Under this arrangement, the insurance company and the beneficiary share the premium cost. Beneficiaries can choose a 70:30 or 50:50 premium sharing option. Those who select the 70:30 share will receive a 28 percent discount on the premium amount. Meanwhile, beneficiaries opting for the 50:50 share will receive a higher discount of 42 percent on the premium.
In addition, the scheme offers an incentive for claim free years. Beneficiaries will receive a 10 percent bonus on the sum insured for each year with no claims. This feature aims to reward continued policyholders who do not make claims during the policy period.

The insurance policy also covers expenses linked to hospitalization beyond the inpatient stay. Coverage is available for up to 30 days before hospitalization. It also extends to 60 days after discharge. Therefore, beneficiaries can manage pre and post hospital expenses within the same policy coverage.
CGHS beneficiaries can purchase Paripurna Mediclaim AYUSH Bima through the New India Assurance Company. The policy is available as an optional top up scheme, allowing beneficiaries to decide the level of coverage they require. The launch adds another insurance option for CGHS users seeking extended health coverage.
Later, officials confirmed that the scheme is designed to supplement existing CGHS benefits rather than replace them. The focus remains on offering flexibility, higher coverage limits, and financial support during hospitalization. With Paripurna Mediclaim AYUSH Bima now available, CGHS beneficiaries have access to additional insurance protection tailored to their needs.
