Hyderabad, June 22: A cab driver lost his vehicle after an unidentified passenger allegedly deceived him and escaped with the car in Medipally on the city outskirts.
According to police, the incident took place on June 20 when Ch Bhanu Prabhu, 26, a resident of Nalgonda district, was operating a rented cab near Uppal Ring Road.
Cab Theft in Medipally After Passenger Deception
Police said an unidentified man approached the driver and offered Rs 450 for a ride to Chengicherla.
During the journey, after reaching Medipally village limits, the passenger allegedly complained of leg pain and asked the driver to purchase a cigarette from a nearby shop.
Believing the request, Bhanu Prabhu parked his Swift Tour CNG vehicle and stepped out briefly.
Taking advantage of the situation, the passenger allegedly moved into the driver’s seat and fled with the vehicle.
The driver attempted to chase the car but could not stop it. He later approached Medipally police and filed a complaint.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify and trace the suspect.
