Pawan Kalyan Clarifies Stance on Hindi: Supports the Language, Opposes Its Imposition
Amaravati/Hyderabad, March 16 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan clarified that he has never opposed Hindi as a language but is against making it mandatory. He stated that using this issue for political gains is inappropriate.
Criticism Against Misinformation on Social Media
Pawan Kalyan criticized the misrepresentation of his stance on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). He pointed out that claims suggesting he has changed his position on multilingual policy stem from a lack of understanding.
“Forcing a language or blindly opposing it will not help us achieve national and cultural integration. When Hindi is not even mandatory under the New Education Policy (NEP), spreading false narratives about it is an attempt to mislead people,” he said.
New Education Policy (NEP) and Linguistic Freedom
Under the NEP, students have the freedom to choose any two Indian languages (including their mother tongue) along with a foreign language. Hindi is not compulsory, and students can opt for languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Assamese, Kashmiri, Odia, Bengali, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Santali, Urdu, or any other Indian language.
Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the multilingual policy is designed to empower students, promote national unity, and preserve India’s linguistic diversity. He reaffirmed that the Jana Sena Party stands firmly for linguistic freedom and educational choice for every Indian. (Maxim News)
