During the meeting, the SIT planned to draw a clear roadmap for the phone tapping case investigation. After reviewing available case details, Sajjanar and the team discussed the legal and technical requirements required for the next phase of the probe. Therefore, the focus remained on ensuring that all procedures follow due process and legal standards while examining the alleged phone tapping activities.

The meeting was attended by high ranking police officials from several jurisdictions. These included representatives from Siddipet, Ramagundam, Madhapur, and Maheshwaram. Officers from specialised units such as the Greyhounds, the Anti Narcotics Bureau, and the Hyderabad Metro Rail were also present. Meanwhile, the wide representation was aimed at bringing together experience from different units involved in earlier stages of the case.

The discussion also stressed the need to maintain continuity in the probe. Sajjanar consulted officers who had earlier supervised the case since its registration at the Punjagutta Police Station. This step, officials said, would help the new team benefit from earlier findings and observations. The SIT is expected to intensify its probe into the alleged unauthorised surveillance activities to identify those responsible for violating privacy protocols.

Earlier, Telangana Police constituted a new nine member Special Investigation Team under the overall supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar to probe the alleged phone tapping during the previous BRS regime. Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy issued the order constituting the SIT. Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha and Siddipet Commissioner of Police S. M. Vijay Kumar are members.

The team also includes Deputy Commissioners of Police Ritiraj and K. Narayan Reddy, Greyhounds Group Commander M. Ravinder Reddy, Additional DCP K. S. Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police P. Venkatagiri, and Deputy Superintendents of Police Ch. Sridhar and Nagender Rao. ACP Jubilee Hills Venkatagiri will serve as the investigating officer.

The SIT has been directed to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet expeditiously, as stated in the DGP’s order. The development came a week after former Special Intelligence Bureau chief T. Prabhakar Rao surrendered before the SIT on December 12, a day after the Supreme Court directed him to surrender for custodial interrogation.
