Phone Tapping Case: KTR to appear before SIT today
Phone Tapping Case | Hyderabad, Jan. 23: The phone tapping case has taken another turn as BRS working president and former minister K T Rama Rao is set to appear before the SIT on Friday.
The case has already seen a series of notices issued to senior leaders, intensifying political focus in both Telugu states.
SIT officials served a notice under Section 160 CRPC at KTR’s residence. They asked him to appear for questioning at the Jubilee Hills ACP office.
The inquiry relates to complaints alleging illegal phone tapping during the previous BRS government. Officials have already questioned former minister Harish Rao for nearly seven hours as part of the probe.
The SIT is expected to question KTR and record his statements in connection with the case.
Officials said the investigation has been intensified following multiple complaints.

Meanwhile, BRS leaders and workers gathered in large numbers at KTR’s Nandi Nagar residence after news of his SIT appearance spread.
Party cadres raised slogans in support of KTR and criticised the government’s action.
BRS leaders alleged the phone tapping case is politically motivated and aimed at targeting opposition leaders.
KTR, along with Harish Rao, left his residence for Telangana Bhavan to meet senior party leaders. He is later expected to proceed to the SIT office in a convoy..
Police have tightened security around the Jubilee Hills ACP office to prevent any untoward incidents during the phone tapping case inquiry.
